WHY ARE YOU ATTRACTED TO OTHER PEOPLE?

"If you are already in a relationship them my advice to you regarding crushes would be, to snap out of it, don't go there,  its dangerous territory".   - Susan

WHY ARE YOU ATTRACTED TO OTHER PEOPLE?

Roving eye? You're not alone. MH looks at the science of crushes

It shouldn’t shock you to learn that your wife or partner may be attracted to other men. You’ve probably checked out other women—maybe even fantasised about one—in the last 24 hours. But that doesn’t mean this information is easy to digest: 70 per cent of women in relationships admit to having crushes on other guys, according to new research from Indiana University.
Yes, full-on crushes. Like when she flirts with someone, daydreams about him, and doodles his name on her notebook. Or as one study participant put it: “tried not to show anything outwardly, but did think about it a bit when masturbating.”
In the study, women who had been in a relationship for at least 3 years answered open-ended questions about their crushes. (And we’re not talking about university students; most of the subjects were married.) The main thing we learned: it’s totally normal to have feelings for other people, says study author Margo Mullinax, Ph.D., who is now a postdoctoral fellow at Columbia University. It’s a revolutionary idea, really. We’d all like to think that the ability to be attracted to someone else vanishes the second you exchange rings. But why would it?
“Crushes can continue throughout your lifespan,” says Mullinax. “You don’t just stop having them because you’re in a relationship. It’s natural, when you’re around someone a lot, to develop feelings.”
While Mullinax says this phenomenon hasn’t yet been studied in men, but let’s be honest: it’s completely logical that the same goes for guys.
Now for the dirty details. Many women described their crushes as casual and purely physical.
“Oh my, he was beautiful,” says one respondent. “It’s just a physical reaction when I’m near him,” says another. Others talked about feeling chemistry or an emotional connection with the other guy. A quarter of the crushes were on a coworker. (Surprise!) Exes and close friends were also common culprits.
The good news: her crush has absolutely nothing to do with you or your relationship, says Mullinax. Attraction to other people is practically inevitable, regardless of whether your marriage is struggling or rock-solid. It doesn’t mean she’s going to cheat, either. Many respondents went out of their way to specify that they would never act on their feelings.
And of all the women who confessed to having crushes on other guys, only 5 per cent admitted to infidelity. The total percentage of people who cheat is actually much higher, around 20 per cent for both men and women, according to other research from Indiana University. In fact, many women said their feelings for the other guys even improved their relationships.
“They might feel more aroused throughout the day, then go home and transfer that desire to their partner,” Mullinax says.
Don’t like the idea that she gets horny for another guy? Just know this: The more a woman fantasises, the greater her sexual desire, says Mullinax. And a faithful wife who craves sex is nothing but good news for you. (Remember, "95 per cent" of these women never strayed.)

Fish2FishDating.co.uk

Other respondents said that thinking about being with another man reminded them of why they were with their partner. For example: “I usually snap out of it and realise I wouldn’t really want to be with or see that person . . . and how much I appreciate my husband and all of his attributes and the healthy balanced relationship we have.”
How to Handle a Crush

If it’s so normal to have crushes on other people—but you don’t want to lose your spouse—the trick, then, is to figure out how to manage your feelings.
There’s no one right way to do that, says Mullinax. It all depends on what works for you. Some couples talk openly about their crushes, but if that’s going to cause hard feelings, it’s OK to keep your lips sealed, too.
If you’re not sure what to do about your own extramarital infatuations, consider taking a cue from the women in Mullinax’s study. They reported using several different strategies to defeat temptation—you’ll know which tactic is right for you.
Talk about it . . .
Telling your partner about your crushes can make them less of a threat, says Mullinax. “We discuss [crushes] openly and in as much detail as we feel comfortable,” one woman wrote. “Because human attraction is natural, we recognise that it is better to be open and honest about these feelings and deal with jealousy through reassurance and trust.”
. . . Or don’t
You may feel that it’s pointless to discuss a meaningless crush. Keeping it to yourself can be healthy, too, says Mullinax. Some people would rather not think about their life partner having the hots for someone else—you probably know if your wife is one of them. As one woman put it: “It doesn’t pose a real threat to our relationship and I don’t want him to worry unnecessarily.”
Bury your crush . . .
Having the opportunity to cheat is one of the main predictors of whether you’ll cheat, according to shocking research. This why the avoidance technique employed by many of the study respondents is smart: try to put the thoughts of your crush out of your mind and don’t spend time alone with him or her. Especially when drunk.
. . . Or go ahead and fantasize
Keeping your crush all in your head is what works for many people. Some women wrote that they fantasised during masturbation or sex, and that was enough to satisfy their desires. “Then it’s fulfilled its useful purpose and it’s gone,” as one woman says. Above all, know that crushes are harmless.
The researchers did notice a trend in the few relationships that were negatively affected by crushes: The couples tended to demonize attraction to other people. If you assume that your partner will never be attracted to someone else—or that attraction will inevitably lead to infidelity—it will cause disappointment and conflict, Mullinax says. So remember that it’s natural for both of you to occasionally feel drawn to someone else. Just don’t forget why you picked her to spend your life with, and trust her to do the same.

4 Daily Habits That'll Completely REVOLUTIONISE Your Relationship

4 Daily Habits That'll Completely REVOLUTIONISE Your Relationship

You'll be well on your way to being THAT couple that always sits on the same side of the booth.
Sometimes you see couples that seem to click in a certain way. You never see them get frustrated with one another. They’re always kissing and touching in public. They constantly look like they’re having the most fun possible. I know… they’re the worst.
But the truth is, a lot of work goes on behind the scenes to get them to being in that kind of place every day. They aren’t going home, sitting in the dark and expressing their feelings to one another all night long. It’s actually a lot simpler than that.
When it comes to our intimate relationships, it’s the little things that make or break you.
On the negative side of things, the little things that bother you about your partner can pile up and eventually dissolve the relationship. He always forgets his keys at work. She leaves her dishes in the sink. But, if you are doing all the little things to positively influence your relationship, it can essentially wipe away all the negative things.
You too can be that disgusting couple in the back booth, at the restaurant, who doesn’t seem to realize there are other people in the universe.

1. Touch Each Other
I cannot express the importance of this enough. I don’t believe in people who say they don’t like public displays of affection. To me it sounds like they’re just worried about people judging them. Because really… what else would it be?
If you don’t love your partner enough to kiss, hug, grab, butt slap them in public, it means you’re prioritizing the public. And you don’t even know them.
Everyone needs touch. It’s a strange thing. But we do. Animals who receive less physical affection tend to be underdeveloped and overall less happy than those who receive regular touch in their developmental years. Even those who suffer from autism and other disorders that make human touch less desirable to them can still be calmed with use of a device called a ‘hugging machine’. Which is literally exactly what it sounds like.
Bottom line, the more you and your partner engage in physical touch, the more happy loving chemicals will be released in your bodies, and you’ll like each other. It’s like your tricking them into loving you, but with hugs! So get over that little trigger that says ‘People are watching, I can’t kiss you,’ because you know what those people are thinking about? Themselves. Always. I promise… you’re not that important.

2. Gratitude
You know the number one thing that leads to happy productive employees? Positive feedback. But not just any positive feedback. Frequent positive feedback.
Psychologist Ron Friedman discusses in his book The Best Place To Work, “Business feedback indicates that smaller frequent positive feedback and rewards will keep people happy longer than a single large infrequent happy event.”
This isn’t just true for business, it’s true for humans. We’re more likely to stay happy if we know that we’re on the right path and that we’re being appreciated.
Showing daily gratitude to your partner is essential for a thriving relationship. You should never assume your partner ‘just knows’ how you feel about them. And even if they do, it’s something they’ll never get sick of hearing. Well…unless you’re just repeating ‘I love you‘ for hours at a time. That may be overkill.

3. Unbreakable Dates
Whatever you spend the most time on is going to flourish. That’s a fact. That even goes for the things you don’t particularly enjoy.
If you spend the majority of your time working hard at a job you hate, you are unwittingly locking yourself into that position. How many times have you heard of people who have been working long hours and want to quit their jobs, but just before they could, they were offered a shiny new position and pay raise? It happens all the time. All of their hard work paid off… they just didn’t really want it to pay off.
So, shouldn’t your relationship be high on your priority list?
In this crazy modern day world, we get busy. We’re constantly plugged into work and social stimulation. Things come up. Things get rescheduled. And that’s life. But, you and your partner should put one day a week aside that is just for you. Everything else is rescheduled around that day. Meetings are pushed, friends are brushed off. It’s date night, damn it!
This simple act alone shows your partner that you’re making them a priority. It tells them that your relationship is important and that you are fully aware that it takes time and energy to keep it functioning. It doesn’t have to be anything extravagant. As long as it’s just the two of you, unplugged from the outside world and fully committed to connecting with one another.

4. Check Ins
The best way to get any information is to ask someone what you want to know. In the case of your relationship, the best way to know if things are going well is to ask your partner.
The most important part of this process is fully prepare yourself for the possibility that they may have some criticisms. You have to be able to listen openly to any negative feedback without lashing out or putting the blame on them. You should be able to talk openly and honestly.
I’m not saying that’s easy. Your relationship is a sensitive area. They’re the person who is suppose to love and accept you the most, so it can be difficult to hear negative feedback from someone whose opinion you hold in (hopefully) a high regard. As long as you both agree to come from a place of love. You both want to build the best partnership possible and part of building something is knowing where your weaknesses lie and addressing them head on.
That super love-y couple… they work their asses off. Either that or it’s a show they put on in public, and in reality they hate each other’s guts… which, I imagine, is also hard work, but I don’t recommend it.
These are all super easy steps that you can implement today to make your love a little brighter. Text them right now and schedule a date, or lean over and bite their thigh or just look up and ask them how you’re doing as a partner. All it takes is one first move.

3 Sad Ways You Dumped YOURSELF (Long Before He Broke Up With You!)

3 Sad Ways You Dumped YOURSELF (Long Before He Broke Up With You!)

Stop worrying about getting your ex back and get YOURSELF back first.

You're sitting around after a huge breakup, waiting for your ex to come back. You fantasize about running into him at the grocery store, about his number appearing on your caller ID, about an e-mail telling you he's made a mistake and wants you back.
Here’s the harsh truth you haven’t faced yet — you broke up with yourself LONG before your ex ever dumped you.
Yes, seriously. Why?

Because most people who get dumped lost themselves first in the relationship.

So, if you want your relationship back (or you want a new relationship that lasts next time), you need to come back to yourself first! This breakup is a true test of your character. When your world falls apart, who are you in the midst of this failed fairytale?
The bad news is — there isn’t a Google maps "best route" for easily navigating your way out of a breakup. The good news is — since you’re reading this, you’ve actually already taken the first step.
It's reality check time! Here are the 3 sad ways you broke up with yourself before your ex even had a chance to dump you (and how to reclaim the healthy, happy version of you before).

1. You stopped taking care of yourself

Maybe you stopped going to the gym. Or maybe that punch card to dance class started collecting dust in your dresser drawer. Rather than running on Sunday mornings, perhaps you decided to stay in bed to text your then boyfriend (or stalk him on Facebook). The point is, you let yourself go.
What would happen if you used the powerful emotions of this breakup as fuel to get back in the best shape of your life?
The food you eat and the amount of physical exercise you gift your body often suffer after a breakup (even during a relationship). It's time to turn that around.
Put down the Ben & Jerry's and start feeding your body the essential energy it needs to handle separation and bounce back with a renewed sense of lust and vigor.
The first thing your ex will notice is your physical appearance (yes, this is true even if your ex is a woman), but how you look attests to more than just attractiveness — it's also a symbol of your mental strength and sense of self-worth. Did you let the breakup "break you" or did you rise in the face of loss with resilience and a great outlook?

2. You stopped being interesting

Listen, he fell for you because you had a life of your own. You had friends you cared about, activities that excited and inspired you. You were interesting, and that life of your own added a little mystery that he found appealing.
But then you gave it all up. Made him your entire world and there was nothing new to discover about you.
So, get back to spending time with your friends. This doesn’t mean you need to get your high school garage band back together. It simply means inviting people back into your life that you used to enjoy. The friends that remember the woman your ex fell in love with, the interesting, capable person you stopped being along the way.
Recruiting a network of friends during a breakup is equivalent to constructing a life raft next to a sinking ship. It can save you from the sinking into the depths of self-doubt and hopelessness.

3. You forgot who you are (and what you want to be)

Once upon a time, you had goals. But during your relationship, the two of you became "comfortable" with each other. Perhaps a little too much so.
You forgot what made you happy when you were single, and as a result, also said goodbye to the core confidence that following your own path to happiness unlocked.
You broke up with the vision of who you wanted to be to shape-shift into what you thought your boyfriend wanted (forgetting he picked you for being you from the start). You left you long before your ex walked out the door. Your ex just followed your lead.
I repeat — he was attracted and fell in love with the person you already were (not the one you changed into trying to make your world all about him and the relationship).

If this story sounds like your story, it’s important to know: It’s not your fault (at least, not entirely).

Losing yourself can happen in all kinds of relationships, even the best of them. Often it infects couples over and over again until they finally become aware of the pattern and break it.
It may sound heartless, but it’s human nature. People are magnetically attracted to those who can thrive amidst adversity and uncertainty, someone who demonstrates spiritual and emotional fortitude. When you're truly connected to yourself, you naturally radiate this grace. You once did, before you met your ex (that's why he noticed you), and you can do it again.
A second chance only becomes possible when your partner gets to see your core again, the woman who once swept him off his feet. If you don’t, ANYTHING you say or do to win him back won’t have any power. Until the true you is authentically shining through again, all he'll see is the fearful echo of a woman you've become.
As you begin to reclaim your sense of self, getting your ex back and possibly starting over naturally becomes easier. And more importantly, any relationship you create from the place of being connected to SELF begins from a place of empowerment rather than desperation.
No relationship is worth losing yourself over. So, before you even think of giving your ex a second change ... please, give YOURSELF one first!

Delayed Ejaculation (retarded ejaculation)

"How complex the human body is and how lucky are we to have people out there with the know how to tweek and fine tune it to keep it in suitable working order."     - Susan

Delayed ejaculation (retarded ejaculation)

I have seen a number of males with this problem. In a little over half of these cases, the man was eventually able to reach orgasm inside his partner's vagina.

What is delayed or retarded ejaculation?

The terms 'delayed ejaculation' (DE) and 'retarded ejaculation' (RE) mean the inability of a man to reach a climax inside the vagina.

I have seen a number of males with this problem. In a little over half of these cases, the man was eventually able to reach orgasm inside his partner's vagina.

Term watch

The old term for this condition was 'ejaculatory incompetence'.

Most sex therapists now prefer to say delayed or retarded ejaculation.

To add to the confusion, you may find it referred to by other names such as:
  • ejaculatory dysfunction
  • ejaculatory overcontrol
  • anejaculation
  • inhibited orgasm
  • situational retarded ejaculation.

Usually the man can achieve orgasm with masturbation, or lovelplay, but not during sexual intercourse.

Writing in the World Journal of Urology in 2007, Dr Michael Perelman and Dr David
Rowlands said that this disorder causes 'considerable distress, anxiety and loss of sexual confidence'.

It often has a damaging effect on a couple's relationship, particularly if the woman wants to have children.

How common is delayed ejaculation? It is the third most common male sexual disorder after impotence (erectile dysfunction) and premature ejaculation. However, it is nothing like as common as the other two.

Delayed ejaculation is not easy to treat: only 58 per cent of cases I've seen were significantly improved by treatment.

All of the successful couples were well-motivated and willing to persevere with long-term therapy.

Because this disorder is not as common as the other two main male sexual problems, there is remarkably little medical literature on this subject. Exceptions are the pioneering works of Masters and Johnson, and of Helen Kaplan and her associates in the USA.

Beware: some material which you can find on the web in 2009 is very misleading and may be designed to extract money from you for 'treatment'. Some sites confuse DE with PE.

What causes delayed ejaculation?

Many of the men tend to have had a strict upbringing and are very controlled in their lives.

Some have terrific drive and detachment, and have risen to the top of their professions. A surprising number have been in the finance industry.

Some of them readily admit to having quite controlling personalities. Very often this is directed inward rather than at other people.

They may have difficulty in showing emotions and in 'letting go'.

Other possible factors include:
  • fear of causing pregnancy
  • fear that the vagina is dirty
  • over-strict religious upbringing
  • latent homosexuality.

Is delayed ejaculation always a psychological problem?

Nearly always, but there are exceptions.

Age and climax

Quite a lot of men find it's not as easy to climax as they get older.

They have good erections, but do not always get to orgasm.

This phenomenon was first noted by US researchers Masters and Johnson.

It is not the same thing as delayed ejaculation, which first occurs in a much younger age group.
  • Medication: ejaculation problems can happen suddenly in men who have had no previous difficulties, but who have been put on certain medication, particularly antidepressants. In these cases, a change of tablets will usually cure the problem.
  • Excessive use of alcohol can also cause difficulty in ejaculation, as can some recreational drugs.
  • Serious spinal injuries can also create major problems with achieving ejaculation. They are outside the scope of this article, but it is worth noting that men who have this type of injury can produce an ejaculation, and therefore father children, by means of electrical stimulation of the prostate area (electro-ejaculation). There have also been recent claims that high-frequency vibrators may help.

Why does delayed ejaculation cause problems?

In your youth, you may not feel that you have a problem and may well assume that other men are the same.

When you first have sex with women, you may be very popular because you can keep going for two or three hours.

But when you get into a regular relationship, especially if you hope to have children, delayed ejaculation can be a major problem.

Both the man and woman may become sore and frustrated, and the female partner often feels resentful or even insulted that her man does not ejaculate when they make love.

Not surprisingly, it is common for men with this problem to have had several broken relationships – because their partners have decided that they want somebody who can 'come'.

Sometimes the man seeks help after a divorce. More commonly, a couple may ask for treatment when they are desperate to have a baby.

What can be done for men with delayed or retarded ejaculation?

Unfortunately, there is no instant cure. At present, there are no drugs that will make a man come.

But there is a good chance of putting things right through counselling, provided both the man and his partner really want to cure the problem.

Counselling

The object of therapy is to gradually diffuse the man's anxiety about giving up control so he can climax inside his partner without difficulty.

The most common method is based on the work of American experts who have developed behaviourist ways of helping the man to relax and 'let go' when he is with his partner.

Generally, the man can reach orgasm by self-masturbation and maybe through love play, but not through intercourse.

So the therapist may encourage the couple to gradually proceed to a situation where the man can ejaculate just outside his partner's vagina, and eventually go on from there to a more 'advanced' situation where he is able to cope with ejaculating inside her.

American sex experts Masters and Johnson have also devised a slightly different therapy:
  • first, the couple go through a period of treatment in which actual sex is off limits, but kissing and cuddling are encouraged
  • they progress to a stage where the woman, sitting astride the man, masturbates him till he reaches orgasm - even if this takes two hours or more
  • finally, they move to a situation where she lowers herself onto him shortly before he climaxes.

Other treatments

Beware of people who want to give you expensive hormones, or who try to relieve you of very large sums of money.

If you search the internet, you will find claims for Chinese herbal treatment that produces a near 100 per cent success rate. This does not seem very likely.

Claims are also made for yoga and for hypnotherapy as modes of treatment.

We want to have children. What if counselling doesn't work?

If the man cannot get to the stage where he ejaculates inside the vagina, couples can be helped to conceive by:
  • IVF (test-tube) techniques
  • artificial insemination (AI), in which a doctor injects the man's seminal fluid into the woman.
We know of couples who have tried 'self-insemination' without medical help. This involves getting the semen by masturbation and then putting it into the vagina.

There is something to be said for this approach, but a few women who have attempted it have ended up with injuries to their cervix (neck of the womb). Do not use any sharp instruments.

There are numerous websites that have advice on self-insemination. Many of them are aimed at lesbians, but the information can be useful for any couple.

Where can I get help?

Your GP can refer you, if he knows of one.

Other organisations that can be of assistance include the following.
  • A very few family planning clinics, but they're overworked these days and are unlikely to have the time to help.
  • Relate has excellent psychosexual counsellors.
  • Relationships Scotland does similar good work to Relate, but north of the border.
  • The College of Sexual and Relationship Therapists (COSRT) is an organisation whose members are trained in sexual counselling.
  • Institute of Psychosexual Medicine is another counselling organisation whose members are all doctors trained in psychosexual therapy.
  • Sexual Advice Association is just an office that providesleaflets and useful addresses, but they will try to help you find a therapist.
  • There are also some private clinics, but only a few have any real experience in treating retarded ejaculation.

Can delayed ejaculation be cured?

Delayed ejaculation, also known as retarded ejaculation, is a frustrating and trying condition for both partners.

With some expert help and a determination to persist with therapy, it is possible to defeat it.

But if you cannot solve the problem, and are keen to have a baby, you should consider IVF or artificial insemination – especially if your years of fertility are running out. There is some NHS help available from psychosexual clinics. Your GP can refer you, if he knows of one.

5 Realistic Reasons Why Women Cheat

"Revenge, boredom, sexual thrills and even sexual addiction are some of the many reasons for infidelity.  Interestingly experts say that motivations differ by gender, with men searching for more sex and attention and women looking to fill an emotional void. What do you think?".                  -  Susan

fish2fishdating.com

5 Realistic Reasons Why Women Cheat

A helpful guide from dating expert Renee Lee for every woman—and man—on why ladies go rogue. Does this apply to you?

1. Going Through A Transition

"If it is graduating, turning a certain age, losing a parent or advancing the relationship status, women become introspective," explains Lee. "Even if it is something she wants, such as just getting engaged or graduating, the transition can stir up an array of emotions about where her life is going or where she is in it. The discomfort of change can trigger an impulsive desire to find someone to take her focus off the change and be a diversion for what she is going through."

2. Not Feeling Adequately Celebrated

As far as stereotypes go, a wandering eye and the urge to jump into bed with multiple partners seems to be built into a man's DNA, but when it comes to cheating, the sexes are created more equally than we think. (Cough, Kristen Stewart, cough.) Renee Lee, a relationship expert with a masters in psychology, dishes out five reasons why women cheat.

And that's when they could go looking for it elsewhere. "When you are living in the day to day with someone, it is challenging to step outside a situation and notice the things that do matter to someone," adds Lee "As this wears down over time, so as soon as the woman encounters someone who ignites the spark they are lacking at home, they equate it to an emotional connection and seek companionship with someone else."

Fish2FishDating.co.uk

3. Feeling A Relationship Ending

"When a woman feels that uneasy sense that a relationship is on the outs, by either her doing or his, she will often look to fill the void externally to soften the blow," Lee reasons for a woman's infidelity. "If she is the one considering the breakup, she may be using this tactic as a challenge to herself both testing the waters, and then gauge if she can go through with it."

4. It's Just Not Fun Anymore

...But it's too hard to pull the plug. "When you don't laugh, you don't love. Laughter is one of the key elements in a relationship that often gets overlooked," Lee explains, simply. "When stresses of day to day life become the dominant factor in a relationship, women feel unhappy. When they come across a coworker, or friend that they have a good time with, it suddenly brings to light what is missing in their own relationship and becomes tempting to act upon."

5. It's Boring In The Bedroom

Men aren't the only ones who need to spice things up. "Women need to feel desired!" Lee declares. "If she is not getting any, enough, or nothing to talk about, women start to feel a sexual void. With the popularity of books such as Fifty Shades of Grey, television shows, or listening to friends talk about their fun single trysts, women have that moment when they compare their love life at home to what the rest of the world seems to be experiencing." And that's when she may start to wonder what she's missing.

"Though it is easy to pinpoint the flaws in one's sex life, it is often hard to make the changes needed to correct them," adds Lee. "This creates a temptation in women to seek sexual satisfaction elsewhere with someone they don't have the baggage with and can be more uninhibited."

Now you know why women cheat. But we say, if you're thinking about cheating, just break up with the guy, before you move on to a new one.
We've all been here: "May it be getting a promotion, organising a fundraiser, or making Thanksgiving dinner for a party of 20, men often make the misstep of "not complimenting their partner's achievements," Lee says.
