Treasure The Love Of Your Life

"Treasure the love of your life because life has a habit of throwing a curve ball and one day they may no longer be with you".       -   Susan

Treasure The Love Of Your Life

We have all had one; that truly amazing love. The love of your life is considered a soul mate, the person who completes you. Unfortunately, most of us don't end up with that person, mostly because of ridiculous mishaps, or because we fail to realise or accept the way we really feel about them.

A lot of people manage to find their true love in high school or college and they grow together, creating an unbreakable bond. Often, we associate our first love with our true love because that person may have been with us during a time in our lives where we experienced the most changes. The time where our own beliefs, opinions, and ideas develop.

We can't help but feel close to that person because those partners had the most important influence during the most crucial development period. Despite the connection we may feel, we inevitably separate from that special someone. Most of the time, it is bad timing.
A lot of my friends always say "If only I had met him when I was in my 20's, I would have been able to handle everything." We meet the right person usually at the wrong time. This isn't always the case though, and those who meet their true love when they are a little older and more mature often end up with them forever. It's funny how we have to sometimes suffer through terrible relationships, to truly appreciate a good one when it comes along.

Why are we so stupid?

But most of the time, we end great relationships prematurely. Are we stupid or do we consciously end a relationship with the person we are supposedly meant for? It's probably a bit of both. It's important for us to make a distinction between a great relationship, and a relationship of habit. Bad relationships are a fact of life, great ones are precious, and are often taken for granted until it is too late.

We all spend our lives looking for love, but rarely finding it. We can love someone, but we are hardly ever in love. Most of the time, we learn to love our partner simply because we are with them for a long period of time. The love most couples have is equivalent to the love we have for someone we care about, not someone we are necessarily passionate about.

We fall madly in love with someone, we revolve our lives around that person, but somehow it never works out. Men (and some women) often break up with loved ones, while they are still in love with because they think there is someone else out there who is perfect for them. Women know that Mr. Right doesn't exist and that no guy is perfect, yet they can't help but always wonder whether their boyfriends are the one . The same applies to men, though men tend to be more blasé about it.

Some of my girlfriends claim that they're in love with their current boyfriends, yet they continuously talk about some other guy that they had a passionate affair with or long to be with. I tell them to follow their heart because there are enough loveless relationships in the world. The genuine love of your life is the one that makes your heart beat a little faster, the person you are constantly trying to impress, the person whose voice you need to hear, the person you do the little things for. But most importantly, it is the person you feel complete with. It's not a Jerry Maguire cliché; it's the truth. You will only realise this when you feel that way about someone, for the first time.

Avoid the checklist

There are a few people who do end up with their soul mates. Those are the lucky ones. The rest of us end up with people that meet enough of our criteria. A few years ago, a male friend of mine was madly in love with his girlfriend, to the point where they were months away from getting married. Then she did something stupid, nothing major, just annoying enough to bother my male friend. He then did something back to her, upsetting her of course.

A week later, it was over. Five years down the drain. The stupid thing is that they are still madly in love with each other. They are both too proud to get back together. In the meantime, each has gone through numerous relationships with no meaning and no love. But their example is an exception to the rule; most people would end the 5 years with each other's picture as a dartboard target.

My advice is simple for all the men out there: if your current girlfriend is the love of your life (and a person can tell if they are or not), then never let them go. Forgive when you have to, stand up for yourself when you must, but don't ever let petty problems end the relationship. Chances are that you will have a very hard time finding someone else like her. Cherish her like a diamond (it's a woman thing), and most importantly tell her how you feel. Men communicate, trust me.

If you are dating someone, but your heart still longs for another woman who is perfect for you, simply tell that perfect woman. She might have mutual feelings. If you don't try, you'll never know. If she doesn't feel the same way about you, you are in the exact same spot you were in before; but if she feels the same way, you will be one of the lucky ones who gets his princess.

The Dating Game: Tips for Single Moms Looking for Love

The Dating Game: Tips for Single Moms Looking for Love

The Dating Game: Tips for Single Moms Looking for Love

Single moms and the dating life. "Is there such a thing?" asks Circle of Moms member Rachel D. "I would love to know, how does it work? Because it seems like there is never a spare moment," she adds, voicing the collective lament of many single moms who say that after working all day and caring for the kids alone, they find themselves in a state of exhaustion — not exactly in the mood to go out and find romance.
Let's be real, how do you put your sexy on after a day when "let's snuggle" means cuddling a toddler to nap? Or is it possible to find the energy to date when kids rule the night shift as well because there's no "B team"/partner to offer a break from parenting duties that are 24/7?
But, fret no more single moms. While dating is not easy, "it can be done," assures Stacy D. For single moms who are looking to add more love and romance into their lives, there are some successful strategies for playing the field, having fun, and making sure your child is at ease — if and when a new guy enters your life. Consider these ideas from Circle of Moms members who have put themselves out there in the hopes of finding love again.
    1. First, Decide if You Are Really Ready
"Don't rush into anything," advises Circle of Moms member Star. J., and many moms share herhesitancy about jumping back into the dating game. "My daughter will be 18 months and I'm still not ready," says Leslie N. "I have yet to meet a real man that I could date, because most I have met are not willing to take care of another man's children." And Jean C., a mom of three children (ages 11, 14, and 18), who's been divorced for two years, echos, "I wonder all the time if I am ready for dating. But I do feel that I need to try to find someone that can treat me like a lady and do things with me. It's true that after you divorce it may take you three years to get over it and start dating."
    2. Venture Outside Your Comfort Zone
Part of transitioning to life as a single mom is watching the built-in social life that comes with being married — the world of coupled friends — vanish. The first step is to get back into a social network, which can be easier said than done, says Regina K. "It's important to start with social situations that might take you a little out of your comfort zone," she recommends. "Remember, just because we're single moms doesn't mean our lives have ended. In due time you'll know when it's OK." Other Circle of Moms members agree that you've got to go for what your heart desires and deserves.
    3. Better Ways to Meet Someone
Online dating is one popular resource some Circle of Moms members say leads to new love. "By going online, you can chat and go through the get-to-know-a-guy [phase] without taking time away from your kids," says Bethany H. Other Circle of Moms suggest pursuing hobbies and participating in sports or other activities you enjoy as a way to meet new people — and potential dates. "After years of partying it up at bars and clubs I've settled down and enjoy building snow forts and kite flying," says Leigh S. She adds that it is through her hobbies that she has started meeting new people.
Volunteering has been the ticket to meeting new guys for Charissa B. "Meeting guys at a bar is always a hit-or-miss kind of thing. What do you really have in common, you like to drink," she says. "I think the best thing is to pick something you love (for me it's snowboarding) and pursue it. Every winter I head up to my local ski resort and volunteer with their adaptive snowboarding program. That's where I met my current boyfriend."

    4. Be the Initiator
Go ahead and make a move, say many single Circle of Moms members who back up that suggestion with the rationale that life's short. "I am dating somebody I met at the grocery store one day," says April B., who introduced herself to her boyfriend of three months. "You can tell if a guy is interested, so go ahead, make a move. The worst he can say is no."
Remember you can meet a guy anywhere, advises Natasha R. "You can meet your Mr. Right in the strangest places," agrees April B. "If you see someone you like, you just have to go for it. That's what I did and we have been going strong so far."
    5. Start Small
Life is not an episode of The Bachelorette, where dating means leaving your child home for six weeks to travel to an exotic locale to find a prospective mate. It's best to venture into the dating world slowly, Circle of Moms members agree. "Plan small evenings first or lunch dates," says Melissa D.
    6.  Trust It Will Happen When the Time is Right
"It may take time, but you will meet someone, and even if you don't by trying to date, you might make some great male friends," advises Jennifer N. "All I know is that you don't know if you don't try," says Tamara B.
Are you a single mom who is dating? What's your advice?

Changing Your Attitude Can Bring Online Dating Success

Changing Your Attitude Can Bring Online Dating Success

Successful online dating can happen when you change your attitude!
If you are ready to start dating, what is the first thing you think about? For most singles, it is online dating. Online dating is easy to do and you can begin dating right from your living room. Each day, you receive new potential partners delivered to your inbox. You have your choice of many great sites to help you find the person who is right for you.
If so many singles have tried online dating — how successful is it for finding true love? Here are the facts. There are 54 million singles in the United States and 40 million of those singles have tried online dating. That is a pretty significant number. Recently, Match.com did a survey of people who married in the past three years and 17 percent of those surveyed met their partners online.

It seems obvious that online dating is a great vehicle to meet other singles looking for love. So, what does it take to successfully date online? Well for one, you must have the right attitude. If you choose to try online dating, there's a chance you just may have the following experiences.
    1. You will meet people with poor dating skills, who will approach you in ways you find unattractive.
    2. You will get excited over someone you like, only to have him disappear without a word.
    3. If courageous enough to wink or email someone you find attractive, he may not respond.
    4. You will encounter a nightmare date, who argues with you or lashes out at you when you indicate you are not interested.
So, if all this could happen, why would you want to try internet dating? As you now know, 17 percent of married couples met online and 40 million of the 54 million singles have been online. To be successful at internet dating, you just have to develop a "thick skin" and perseverance.
